Why we all want to go back to school
The summer school vacation is a long six weeks. A time to enjoy family time, take some time away from the routine of work and school, as well as enjoy the summer sunshine outside. But as we head towards September, going back to school can feel like a daunting time. Not just for the children but also for the parents alike.
To make the transition from holidays to back-to-school that little bit easier, we have some top tips. Take a look at them below and let us know your tips for making the back-to-school period go smoother.
Go out with a BANG!
As we head towards the new school term, it’s easy to get mixed up in the preparations of buying new school shoes, books, bags and making all the last-minute preparations. This year make sure you plan to go out with a bang by ending with a special day. If the weather is nice why not head to the beach or ask the kids themselves what they want to do. Spend time reflecting over the holiday period and ask everyone what their favorite moments were.
Preparation, preparation, preparation
Of course, it’s not just the kids that need to get back into the swing of things, us parents do too. That’s why preparation is key. Pick out clothes the night before so that there are no arguments in the morning. Prepare lunchboxes and bags the day/night before so that it’s just a case of grab and go on the school day. Make a chore list, with pictures for younger children, outlining just what needs to be done to get ready for school. And lastly, set expectations of bedtimes so that the kids aren’t carried away with their more relaxes summer schedules.
Make lunch great again
There’s nothing less appealing than a soggy sandwich and a brown banana. So be a little creative with the lunchboxes as the children go back to school. Why not bake some Stroopwafel cookies the day before school starts, either as a lunchbox treat or an after-school snack? Have you also tried our Stroopwafel spread? Start the day the best way!
