Sweet potato fritters with Stroopwafel

Fancy a crunchy snack? Then try this delicious recipe. Combine sweet and salty, and make crispy sweet potato fritters with Stroopwafel. Make dough from grated sweet potato and pieces of Stroopwafel. Fry the dough in coconut oil. Then complete the dish by serving the fritters with a fresh dip made of crème fraîche and orange. Perfect to make for a party or an evening relaxing on the couch with your favorite movie!


Sweet potato fritters
  • 3 Sweet potatoes
  • 2.8 oz Coconut flour
  • 1 tbsp Sugar
  • 1 tbsp Cinnamon
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1.5 tbsp. Melted coconut oil
  • 1 package Daelmans Stroopwafels


  • 8.5 oz crème fraîche
  • 1/2 Orange
  • Oil for frying (coconut or vegetable oil)
  • Portions: 4


  1. Peel the sweet potato and grate coarsely. Chop the Stroopwafels into small pieces.
  2. Mix the grated sweet potato with the sugar, cinnamon, salt, melted coconut oil and coconut flour. Finally, add pieces of Stroopwafel to the dough. Also nice to keep some Stroopwafel pieces to use for garnishing later.
  3. Heat (coconut) oil in the pan and, using two tablespoons, put some dough into the pan, fry the fritters on both sides about 3 minutes. Repeat until the batter is used up. Drain on a a sheet of paper.
  4. For the dip, mix the juice and zest of half an orange through the crème fraîche and serve with the fritters.
